Murase Daichi was born and raised in Shiga, Japan. He spent his childhood watching American films because it made up most of his father’s collection. After entering Kyoto University of Art and Design, he began to study filmmaking. At 19, he directed his first short film FORGET BUT (2019), which was screened at the Cannes Short Film Corner in 2019. Murase Daichi was born and raised in Shiga, Japan. He spent his childhood watching American films because it made up most of his father’s collection. After entering Kyoto University of Art and Design, he began to study filmmaking. At 19, he directed his first short film FORGET BUT (2019), which was screened at the Cannes Short Film Corner in 2019. The director's short film PLANET OF THE RED (2020) was shown at Cinema Rosa in Ikebukuro, Tokyo. His first 3 feature-length film, ROLL (2020) competed in NARA-wave, the Student Film category at the Nara International Film Festival and won the audience award. His project BEYOND THE FOG was selected at HAF 2021. BEYOND THE FOG (2023), has been selected at the San Sebastian IFF.
