Gloria Scollo

Gloria Scollo (b. 24th June 1999, from Pozzallo, Ragusa) is a multimedia artist, filmmaker, and sound designer rooted in the Mediterranean coast, and deeply connected to the sea. She holds a Master’s Degree in New Technologies of Art (Cinema and Video) with highest honors from the Academy of Fine Arts of Palermo, following a Bachelor's Degree in Audio/Video and Multimedia. Her eclectic practice spans documentary filmmaking, animation, and tactile arts like painting and sculpture. Her professional growth has also been shaped by advanced workshops, including "L’immaginazione come repertorio" with director Sara Fgaier, focusing on archival montage and fragmentation, and "Cinema senza Immagini" with the Canecapovolto collective, which contributed to her approach to sound as an independent narrative language. In her vision, sound is not just technique, but also a means to "see" better and creating deeply. As a documentarian, her work focuses on the preservation of memory, landscapes, and cultural traditions. "Saving and capturing the magic sparkles that keep us alive". Her filmography includes the short documentary “A Varchiata di San Giovanni Battista” (2025) and “L’Isola dei Porri - Between Sand and Dust”, 2026 (in the same year, successfully official selection of Costaiblea Film Festival, Marzamemi Cinefest, Sicilia InFestata), which blends family archival footage with personal diary reflections. She also collaborated as animator, sound designer and director for many different personal projects, ABAPA projects and private film school. She likes to define herself as a restless interdisciplinary creator.
